How a source is named on the page
Where a page reproduces a figure from a tour, a league, a commission, a company filing or a public authority, that body is named at the point the figure appears, together with the section of the register and the year of the edition. A reader who wants to check a number is meant to be able to reach the document it came from without asking anyone.
The writing around a figure is the desk’s own, and the register is credited for the figure rather than for the commentary. Where two registers record the same thing differently, both are printed with each publisher named.
Rights in the material on this site
The figures are facts drawn from public documents and are not owned by this site; the registers that publish them hold their own rights, and each page names the register so a reader can go to the source. Quote figures as you would from any published source, with the register named and the date attached.
The photographs and the data artwork are made for this site rather than recovered from anywhere, and they are not part of the documented record. The written pages are the site’s own.

There is no telephone number and no postal handling. For a site whose whole subject is documents, the useful correspondence is a page reference and a document.
Correspondence is in writing only. A correction that can be checked against the register named on the page is the easiest kind to act on, because the check is a matter of opening the document rather than a matter of opinion.

A reference desk carries the same obligation as any other publisher: a reader must be able to find out who stands behind a page and where to write about it. That information is on the card, and the address for writing in is repeated as text beneath it so that it is reachable however the page is being read.
It is set as a printed card rather than as body text because publisher details are the one block on a site that gets scraped, aggregated and resold rather than read. Presenting it as a record card keeps it available to the person who wants it and useless to the harvester that does not.
