Contact the desk: corrections, missing documents and takedown requests
Because every figure here is attached to a named document, useful correspondence is narrow and specific: a figure that does not match its register, a register that has been updated, a document that should be cited and is not, or material that should not be published at all. Each of those has a different answer, set out below. The written address is on the publisher record.
A figure that does not match its register
This is the most useful message the site receives, and the easiest to act on. Say which page, which figure, and what the register says instead. Because the page names the register and the section within it, the check takes minutes and the outcome is not a matter of opinion.
If the page is wrong it is corrected. If the register has changed since the page was written — a tour updating a career total, a board publishing a new scale: the page follows the register and the modification date changes with it.
A document that should be cited
Several pages here end in a band, a floor or the words "not published", because no document could be found. If one exists, that is worth knowing: name the publisher, the document and how to reach it.
The bar is the same as for anything else on the site. A document means something a reader can open: a register, a filing, a published breakdown or an announcement by the payer. A secondary article that states a figure without naming its own source does not clear it, however reputable the outlet.
A takedown or privacy request
Everything on this site is drawn from documents that are already public, and is described as such. That is the starting point rather than the end of the conversation: if material here is inaccurate, or if a document has been withdrawn or sealed at source, say which page and which document and it will be dealt with.
Two things this site will not do on request: publish a wealth figure that has no document behind it, and remove an accurate quotation of a public register because the subject would prefer it were not quoted. The first is the whole editorial position; the second would make the register unreportable.
What not to write about
Requests for an estimate. Requests to add a person because they are well known. Offers of sponsored placement, guest posts, link exchanges or paid inclusion: the site carries none of those and the answer will not change.
Also, out of fairness to the sender: requests for personal financial advice. This site reproduces published distributions and documents; it is not in a position to advise anybody on their own finances, and it will not pretend otherwise.
How correspondence is handled
In writing. There is no telephone number and no postal handling: for a documented record the useful exchange is a page reference and a document, which is a poor fit for a phone call.
No turnaround is promised here, and none should be read into the address being published: it is the address of record for the publisher, in the form an imprint takes. What makes a correction actionable is set out above, and it is the same test a figure had to pass to appear on the page at all. A request for a figure with no document behind it runs into that standard, which is not a brush-off: it is the actual reason no such figure is published.
