Crystal Gayle was in born on 9th January 1957 in Kentucky, Paintsville. Her parents were Clara Maria and Melvin Theodore Webb. Her father worked in coal mines and was also a farmer. Crystal Gayle was the last born in the family of ten members. She was among eight children in her family who were delivered in a hospital. Her siblings include Melvin Webb, Loretta Lynn, Herman Webb, Jaylee, Donald Ray, Peggy Sue Wright and Betty Ruth. At the age of four, her family migrated to Wabash, Indiana.
Her father passed on when she was eight years old. Gayle looked forward to being like her sister Loretta who had gone well in the music industry. It is through her that Crystal learned to play guitar and sing backup in her brothers’ folk band. After she graduated from Wabash high school in 1970, she signed with Decca Records which was the label of her sister. She changed her name from Brenda Lee to Crystal Gayle. The reason was that there was another singer by that name.

In 1982, Gayle worked on Francis Ford Coppola film, “One from the Heart.” Four years later, she recorded an album “Straight to the Heart” earning more fame. Her other album was Another World. She has released other studio albums including “Ain’t Gonna Worry,” Good Reasons, and All My Tomorrow among others.
