We all know this amazing singer as Ben Haenow but he was actually christened Benjamin Bernard Haenow when he was born. Ben was born on the 6th of January 1985 in England. Ben is very popular for his superb performance in the 11th series of the X-Factor. He eventually went on to win that edition of the show. Ben was born in Croydon, England to Mick and Rosanna Haenow. He has an elder sibling named Alex. The problems started when Ben’s parents split up when Ben was a mere 4 years old.
After the divorce, Ben’s mother Rosanna had to work three jobs at the same time to support both her kids but it did not help that she was out of the house all the time. Ben developed depression at the age of 14 because of his family condition and began drinking heavily to forget his worries. He drank almost an entire bottle of Vodka a day till he became very sick and even paralytic.
Career: This was a huge wake-up call to Ben and he stopped drinking and began focusing on building a career. He knew he was pretty talented in singing and decide to sing for bands. His singing career started when he was 15 years old and he later started his own band along with his brother, Alex called the Lost Audio. When he eventually signed up for Season 11 of the X-Factor, he was employed as a van driver.
When he went for his first room audition he was immediately voted four yes’s without any ado. His real test was at the arena audition. At the main audition, he sang “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones. His performance received a standing ovation after which he proceeded to boot camp where he was personally mentored by Simon Cowell who molded his voice and personality into something worthy of live performances.
His performances from the fourth to the final week were all open to voting by the public and he won the public favorite vote which was later revealed when he won the 11th season of X-Factor. His winning performance was on the 14th of December of 2014. One interesting thing to be noted was that he never dropped down to the bottom two during his time at the X-Factor.
The day after his win, he released a cover of One Republic’s ‘Something I need’ The song went viral debuting in the UK Singles Chart in the first place and became the Christmas number one. His popularity reached new heights and his singles were the highest sellers in the whole of 2014!
