Lemmy Kilmister was a well known and well-liked musician, singer, and songwriter who made a name for himself in the music industry with his talent and skills. He was an exemplary artist who touched the lives of many people with his music and his personality. He was the founder of Motorhead; a musical band. His music was also part of the music that formed the ground for Heavy Metal genre. Lemmy had an exquisite voice that had been described as gravely and had intense bass guitar playing skills. Lemmy Kilmister Early life
Lemmy Kilmister, officially known as Ian Fraser Kilmister was born in the year 1945 in December and died on 28th December 2015. His father died when he was only three months old, and he was called. His mother married a former football player called George Willis. He got his nickname Lemmy from his friends. Lemmy showed interest in Music, and while he was sixteen, he learned to play along to the Beatles’ album called Please Please Me. He admired the band and especially John Lennon.
While he was at Stockport, Lemmy joined a local band called The Rainmakers and later joined Motown Sect. After his departure from Motown Sect; he became a member of the Rockin’ Vickers in 1965. They signed a deal with CBS and released three singles which were hits. In 1968 he joined Sam Gopal band, and they recorded an album called Escalator. In 1969 he joined Opal Butterfly band, but it broke up a while later.
In 1971, he joined a band called Hawkwind and was the bass guitar player and also a vocalist. In this period they released a single that topped the UK Charts. It was called Silver Machine. Between 1975 and 2015, he formed a band after being fired from Hawkwind. He called the band Bastards and later changed it to Motorhead because the former name would be hard to sell. In 1980 and 1981, the band became famous after making more hits that appeared in UK Chart Hits. The Motorhead became a very influential band when it came to heavy metal music. The last time that Lemmy performed was in Berlin, and that was on 11th December 2015.
On 28th the same month and year, Lemmy met his death at his apartment. He had prostate cancer, cardiac arrhythmia, and congestive heart failure. It was a big loss to the Rock Music fraternity. His memorial service held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on the 9th of January the following year.
