Homme joined his first band, Autocracy, at the age of 12, in 1985. Since then, he has gone on the join and found numerous bands. Kyuss was formed when he was 14, with schoolmates as fellow band members. The band would, however, split in 1995, leading Homme to join the Screaming Trees but, he left after just over one year with the band, to find Gamma Ray, which later evolved into Queen of the Stone Age in 1997.

In 1998, Queens Of The Stone Age released their eponymous debut album. Following the successful release, the band went on to release Rated R, Songs For The Dead (2002), Lullabies to Paralyze (2005), Era Vulgaris (2007), and their sixth album Like Clockwork (2013); which was highly received by music critics and fans and featured guests like, Sir Elton John, Alex Turner, Dave Group, Nick Olivier, and Homme’s wife, Brody Dalle.

Homme has other pet projects aside from his band, including Desert Sessions, which he has described as ‘music played for the sake of music’, Eagles of Death Metal, founded in 1998; which people have questioned his membership in due to his full and heavy involvement in Queens Of The Stone Age.
