Hamilton Masakadza was born on 9 August 1983, in Harare, Zimbabwe. Along with his two brothers, he also played domestic cricket for the Mountaineers in his early life. He went to elementary school Churchill School in February 2000 and at age of 16 still the schoolboy, Hamilton became the first black Zimbabwean to score a first-class century. After than he played against the West Indies and other teams U-19 team.

In his team’s second innings, he made 119, thus becoming, at the age of 17 years, the youngest player to make a century on his Test debut. He played his last test match 6 November 2016 and the match was against the Sri Lanka. At that time he was not the captain of the Zimbabwean cricket team.
