Born to parents Michael Ovechkin and the two-time Olympic Gold medallist basketball player, Tatyana Ovechkin in the city of Moscow, Alex displayed early signs of a passion for hockey at the age of two when he held onto a hockey stick in a toy store and refused to let go of it.
