Parminder Nagra is a British film and television actress who was born on 5th October 1975 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. Her birth name is Parminder Kaur Nagra and her nickname is Mindi. Her parents shifted from Punjab, India to the UK in 1960. The names of her parents were Sukha and Nashuter Nagra who belonged to Sikh Community. Her father and mother worked in a factory.
She was the eldest child of her parents among two younger brothers and a younger sister. Her parents caught fire when she was at a very young age and Parminder was kept in a water tub which caused fabric stuck to her skin. When the fabric was removed from her skin it left a scar.
While shooting for fair Ladies she met an Irish actor named Kieran Creggan with whom she lived in a flat in Kennington, South London. The couple dated for five long years. She got married to James Stenson on 17th January 2009 who was a photographer. But the couple got separated in July 2013. They have a son named Kai. Education: She went to Northfield House Primary School in Leicester. After that, she attended soar Valley College where she used to play the Viola and became a part of the theatrical production for the first time. She speaks fluently in Punjabi. After leaving the school she was approached by Jez Simons who was her drama instructor and persuaded her to become the part a Leicester based Theatre Company named Haithizi Productions to which she got agreed.
She worked as the artistic director for Haithizi Productions. She became a chorus member in the Musical Nimai of 1994 which was presented at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre. Just within the two weeks, she managed to become the leading actress from the chorus at the theater. She moved to London to pursue a career in the theater which was her ambition from childhood.

In 1997, she was starred in Oh Sweet Site which was an adaptation of an Indian mythology about Rama and his wife Sita where she played the lead role of Sita.
