She is known for her role in Laverna & Shirley, the TV situational comedy, where she played the role of Shirley Feeney. Williams was born on August 22, 1947 in Van Nuys, Los Angeles to parents Francesca and Beachard Williams. She attended the Birmingham High School, from which she graduated in 1965. She then attended the Los Angeles City College.
